I thank Jesus Christ for revealing the truth to me.
I was just saying to my parents that because my school is filled with Muslims, I want to study the Bible to gain a greater understanding of the foundational truths, but also, that I want to read the Koran for a deeper understanding of the Muslim faith for witnessing purposes. Right after I said it, I felt a bit off and then my pops asked me this, "How do bank tellers learn which money notes are fake and which ones are not?" There was a pause and he continued saying, "They first learn all about the real money notes and from that, they know that if any note does not match up with the real one then that note is a fake." A flood of understanding came to me when he continued to say, "The same applies to the word of God, it is the real thing, and if you get to know it really well, you would be able to rebuttal false truths."
For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart. [Hebrews 4:12]
When we share the Gospel with others, we are speaking the word of God, which means that it is not our responsibility, nor are we able to convict any person except by the power of the Holy Spirit. Holy Spirit is able to pierce even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow. There is no religion that is too deeply planted that Holy Spirit cannot uproot, for it is the Spirit of God Himself. Therefore, it is not up to us to be scholars of worldly faiths, but scholars of the Word of God, receiving revelations by the grace of Jesus Christ within us.
However, I would be ignorant if I said not to learn about worldly faiths all together. For means of conversation and intellectual conversation, it may prove beneficial to be knowledgeable about the religions of the world. Always keep in mind however, that it is not your knowledge of worldly religions that will save souls, but knowledge of the word of the living and true God.
