The Lord led me to this Psalm moments after I finished a 20 page essay last night.
Psalm 86:11-13
Teach me your way, O Lord, and I will walk in your truth;
give me an undivided heart,
that I may fear your name.
I will praise you, O Lord my God, with all my heart;
I will glorify your name name forever.
For great is your love toward me you have delivered me from the depths of the grave.
The line, "give me an undivided heart" really stood out to me and I meditated on those words for my entire car ride home. I was in awe at the genius of David's prayer. It occurred to me that if you ask the Lord for an undivided heart, a heart that serves Him alone and detests evil, then praises and thanks will continuously flow from your heart and out of your lips to the Lord. Evil would not be able to dwell in your heart. Your words and deeds would always be pleasing to the Lord.
Pray with me.
Father Lord,
I pray that you teach me your way
so I may walk in your truth,
Give me an undivided heart, O lord
that I may fear your name.
in the mighty name of JESUS I pray
Amen.
